Museum M. (formerly Kunstmuseum Flevoland) is a newly founded institution that will bring immersive and accessible art experiences to the youngest province in the Netherlands. The innovative museum will be much more than a place for exhibitions, featuring complementary functions that bring people together to eat, dance, shop, and play. An Art Pavilion, created by Netherland based architecture firm Studio Ossidiana, now floats on Weerwater Lake as a temporary host for exhibitions and programs until the museum eventually transitions into a more permanent home.

DVDL is collaborating with M. to develop a comprehensive institutional strategy. Our contributions to the process include advising on program strategy and concept development, as well as cultural forecasting research and institutional analysis which highlight the vital roles cultural institutions play in society. In this particular benchmarking and forecasting study, we examined current cultural and demographic developments globally and trends in consumer behavior to assess how they affect the work and position of the museums of tomorrow.
